Al-Balqa Applied University explores ways to develop the “UPTAKERS” project in the field of virtual reality applications.

Al-Balqa Applied University hosted a high-level academic delegation headed by Professor Eden Mamut, Director of the UPTAKERS project and professor at Ovidius University of Constanța in Romania. The meeting was attended by Deputy Ambassador Sorin Nicolescu and Minister Plenipotentiary Robert Rosculescu from the Romanian Embassy, as well as Vice President for Centers and Community Service, Prof. Dr. Khaled Al-Zuabi. The visit aimed to present the project’s results and explore prospects for its development in Jordan and the region.

During the meeting, participants discussed the establishment of a virtual reality laboratory at Al-Husn College, the expansion of applications to include the Faculty of Medicine, and the strengthening of research partnerships with Romanian universities and international partners. They also explored opportunities for the university to host an international conference on disruptive technologies in artificial intelligence and extended reality.

The President of Al-Balqa Applied University, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Fakhri Al-Ajlouni, affirmed that:

“Hosting the UPTAKERS project represents an opportunity to enhance the use of virtual reality applications in the teaching process, enable our students to acquire skills through modern teaching methods, and strengthen the university’s position in education at both the regional and international levels.”

In turn, Prof. Dr. Rubhi Al-Da’amsa said:

“The launch of the virtual reality laboratory is a strategic step to support innovative skills and empower students to face the challenges of the digital future.”

The UPTAKERS project aims to bridge the gap between higher education and labor market requirements by employing extended reality (XR) technologies and enhancing international cooperation between European universities and their partners in the Middle East and North Africa.
